Kazakhstan and Germany are set to deepen their economic collaboration following discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29. The talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation in key sectors such as investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
President Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, highlighting the significant progress made in their relations over the past thirty years. A major proposal from Tokayev during his visit was the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This initiative aims to support joint projects and facilitate mutual investment flows between the two countries.
In addition to the state-level talks, President Tokayev engaged with German business leaders to discuss potential collaboration in various sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. A particular area of interest is the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which could enhance connectivity and trade between the regions.
The discussions also covered the modernization of railway infrastructure and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan. These efforts are intended to create a more favorable environment for German companies interested in participating in industrial and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan and accessing the broader Central Asian market.
