In a recent phone call, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul emphasized the importance of bolstering bilateral cooperation between China and Germany. Wang highlighted the need for both countries to reinforce multilateralism and free trade amidst global economic uncertainties.
During the conversation on Monday, Wang urged for increased economic and strategic collaboration, underscoring that mutual communication and trust could yield significant benefits for both nations. He also called on Germany to adhere to the one-China principle and promote stability across the Taiwan Strait. Wang advocated for resolving economic and trade disputes between China and the European Union through dialogue rather than confrontation.
Wadephul expressed a positive outlook on Germany-China relations, noting the existing momentum in their bilateral ties. He supported enhancing high-level exchanges and expanding cooperation in trade and economic sectors, reaffirming Germany’s commitment to the one-China policy.
The ministers also exchanged views on international issues, particularly focusing on the situations in Iran and Ukraine. Wang reiterated China’s dedication to supporting peace initiatives and enhancing communication with Germany and the European Union on these matters.
